In prose in the wind, Safaa Tohmeh Ghazoul opens a poetic window into a world of conflict, nostalgia, and exile, writing in an intense prose tone that resembles a quiet confession that shines in the midst of darkness. The texts move between Damascus, Qusayr, and Homs, and then stretch to Sharjah, forming a timeline that captures the impact of years in the soul, not just in the facts. Here childhood turns into a resistance attitude, memories become affectionate and painful jailers, and an old phone book becomes a benchmark of safety, while the self searches for a "time out of time." In it, ages are measured by the exhalations of love and loss. Nature is strongly present, the wind, the olives, the walnuts, the almonds, as symbols of belonging, permanence and fragility, and the song intersperses with the tale in a reproachful text by Assi Rahbani that reveals the harshness of borders and the depth of love. It is a debut that grasps the details of pain and hope together, and leaves the reader in front of a poem that insists on staying even when the wind is blowing.
