The study of complementary triangular forms in this thesis concerns both its theoretical aspects, some of which are quite subtle and surprising, and its connections with systems theory and job scheduling theory. Especially the first part of the thesis should not only be accessible to the specialist, but also to the reader with a knowledge at undergraduate level of analysis and linear algebra.
