Stickrod creates sculptures, prints and videos that are part of an ongoing practice of mining family history, memories and artifacts to create, in Robert Silfkin’s words, “ an alternate universe to our own whose denizens nevertheless continue to transmit messages to us from a long forgotten past, which often arrive… in the most inauspicious forms and unprepossessing means of transmission.” In this world, time conflates, memories become mythologies, and materials become histories.
