Sinopsis
Con este proyecto fotográfico, Estela de Castro busca concienciar sobre el maltrato animal, a través de retratos de animales rescatados de situaciones de abandono, caza, circo, zoo, laboratorios, atropellos, criaderos o tráfico ilegal. Esta serie de conmovedoras imágenes marcan un posicionamiento a la hora de mirar el mundo, sin hacer distinción entre animales y humanos, un punto de partida en el que ellos recuperan su dignidad y nos miran de tú a tú. Estas imágenes nos permiten reflexionar sobre la forma en que clasificamos, controlamos y dominamos todo lo que el ser humano ha denominado especie. Si dejamos a un lado la división de especies, cada uno de estos seres tiene en su presente, en su vida, el mismo derecho a la dignidad y plenitud que el resto. Cada fotografía recogida en este libro tiene una historia detrás, que se cuenta junto a cada imagen. Los animales fotografiados son habitantes, entre otras instituciones, de Animal Rescue España, Santuario Gaia, Rainfer, Santuario Vegan, Birds Friends, Granja Natura, Fundación FIEB, Grefa, Primadomus y Wild Forest Reserve.

Acerca del autor
Estela de Castro (Madrid, 1978) es fotógrafa y profesora especializada en fotografía de retrato. Parte de su obra está fuertemente vinculada a la lucha por los derechos humanos y de los animales. Su obra está presente en la colección del Ministerio de Cultura de España, el Centro de Arte Dos de Mayo CA2M, Fundación ENAIRE, Asamblea de Madrid, COEM y diversas colecciones privadas.
