Works of Dr. Shiyali Ramamrita Ranganathan (S.R. Ranganathan) need no introduction. The book is a remarkable illustration of the application of systems analysis, study of work flow, and time and motion study to libraries. It also illustrates the need for the library manager and management to pay attention to the minutae of library work and at the same to have a holistic view of library's functions. It is only very appropriate that Ranganathan provides an extract from the 'Mother' (page 66-72) by the mystic Shri Aurobindo to support this holistic approach to library administration.
