Anatomy is the key to the choice of an impression technique in dentistry. A study of the anatomy of the mouth reveals the possible extent of the dentures, as well as the location of the structures that are covered by them. It is necessary that the impression surfaces of dentures conform perfectly to the tissues which support them, in order that the maximum retention and stability may be obtained.
