Topical products are being used for treating skin ailments and pain /inflammation related disease from primeval times. Apart from conventional topical dosage forms, formulation scientist are exploring new modifications in the existing dosage forms to overcome associated disadvantages for improvement in drug delivery thereby enhanced pharmacodynamic activity of poorly absorbed drugs from the skin. Existing topical formulations carries multiple problems like stability, stickiness, irritation, lower spreadability, limited drug permeability and poor absorption from site of application.
