In this dissertation, the cyclic behavior of two different models of friction dampers with and without SMA cable was modeled and investigated. The first type attenuator is made of a series of friction sheets and the second type is similar to the first type and the difference between them is the use of SMA cables. Each of the dampers will be evaluated by placing them on a frame with a porch brace, their cyclic performance. The result is that the higher the coefficient of friction of the plates, the higher the level of force produced in the friction damper. Also for cable-damped damper, in the plastic part, due to the hardening behavior of SMA cable, a positive slope is observed compared to the cable-free model. In cableless dampers, since the force level is almost constant in the plastic section, most of the energy loss is due to the deformation of the damper. But in dampers equipped with cable, due to the increase in the slope of the inelastic part, part of the energy loss is due to the increase in power level. Finally, the results related to the six-story structure indicate a reduction in the relative displacement of the floors for the model equipped with damper.
