The traditional caste system has often denied the possibility of schedule caste women to hold high positions in local self governments. This has been rectified by the constitution. This book is a narration of a detailed study on the schedule caste women panchayat presidents’ knowledge about the roles and responsibilities, the support that they receive from families as well as elected ward members, the problems that they face, and most importantly, their performance in the state of Tamil Nadu.
