9786202013345: Formulation of Biological Control Agents Against Insect Pests

Sinopsis

FORMULATION: Poor storage and post-application survival are major obstacles to the expanded use of any bioinsecticides. Herein, we explore the concepts of formulations and application technology, and critically evaluate the factors affecting formulations developed for storage, transport, and application. Quality control, standardization, handling, and transport issues must be consideration. Practicalities of applying and using conventional pesticide, fertilizer and irrigation equipment are explored and factors affecting natural enemy’s survival during application. Recent research focused on the use of adjuvant to enhance natural enemy’s retention and survival on the foliage. Emphasis has been placed on identifying gaps in knowledge and on research needs to enhance natural enemy’s storage stability and post-application survival. Formulation refers to the preparation of a product from an active ingredient by the addition of certain active (functional) and non-active (inert) substances. Formulation is intended to improve activity, absorption, delivery, ease-of-use or storage stability of an active ingredient.
