The present study will deal with the whole design analysis of an Overhead Intze tank and will involve the simulation of the designed water tank under hydrostatic load in STAAD Pro and also Sloshing Effect has been studied for a seismic loading along a principal axis direction. Modal analysis of tank has been done to define the mode shapes of tank under self-weight. After modal analysis seismic loading of tank will be done to check for deformations. The simulation of tank will be done using STAAD Pro and Ansys Fluent considering both structural aspects and also fluid excitation norms. Based on the entire design analysis, structural limitations will be verified using hydrostatic loading for the full capacity of the tank. The designed tank will also be studied to understand the sloshing effect of water stored under it under seismic loads so as to understand the chance of water spillage from the tank and also to observe the complete integrity of the tank under such loads. Thus overall this project gives in brief, the theory behind the design of liquid retaining structure.
