A disclosurewidget or expander is a graphical user interface element (widget) thatis used to show or hide a collection of 'child' widgets in a specificarea of the interface. The widget hides non-essential settings orinformation and thus makes the dialog less cluttered. The disclosurewidget may be expanded or collapsed by the user; when this occurs, thecontaining window may be expanded to accommodate the increased spacerequirement. The state of the widget is often signified by a label witha triangle next to it, pointing sideways when it is collapsed anddownward when it is expanded (corresponding to the widget's currentstate), or a button with an arrow pointing downward when it is collapsedand upward when it is expanded (corresponding to how the widget willchange state if the button is clicked).VDM Verlag, Dudweiler Landstraße 99, 66123 Saarbrücken 72 pp. Englisch.
