It is also known as data samples captured per second, andeach sample normally occurs at the clock edge. They are most commonlyused for measuring transfer rates (usually as transfers per secondGT/s, MT/s, etc.). 1 GT/s means 109 or one (US/short scale) billiontransfers per second, while 1 MT/s is 106 or one million transfers persecond. In order to calculate the data transmission rate, one has tomultiply the transfer rate by the information channel width.
