Sign Stories - Tapa dura

A symbol&;s standpoint is determined by the person looking at it. Ultimately, the observer decides what it really stands for. For it is by no means the case that a symbol evokes the same associations with everyone. Let us just take one of the most well-known: the cross. For some it represents salvation, for others primarily a burden to carry, whereas others again see in it repression through El priest&;s caste and for some it just symbolizes an ideology sinking into pluralism. Depending on the origin and personality structure of the observer, symbols are interpreted in a whole host of ways.
