Sinopsis

Simone Kappeler (*1952 in Frauenfeld) is one of Switzerland’s most important photo artists of her generation. For more than thirty years she has used mainly analog photography to explore the atmospheric sensibilities of the people and landscapes she has encountered on her various journeys. This publication is the first to present an overview of the development of her body of work. A dialogue among the individual pieces unveils a fascinating, virtually dreamlike cosmos of images. The visual intensity of the moment takes the motif out of its ordinary surroundings and lends it a magical sense of timelessness. There often seems to be a melancholy streak in the landscapes and people, leading to questions about time and the ongoing loss of each passing moment.

Reseña del editor

Working predominantly with an analogue camera, Swiss photographer Simone Kappeler (born 1952) records dreamy scenes from everyday life, capturing portraits and landscapes in a mix of hypersaturated color and black-and-white. Ropes, Stream, Night is the first comprehensive monograph on her 30-year career.
