"Light-Tech" refers to a mode of building that is light, almost weightless; one that uses lightweight materials and elements, and that is marked by elegance and technical construction. It serves to describe furniture detailing and interior design equally well as it does a single family home, an office building or a bridge. Light-Tech utilizes such materials as aluminium, glass or titanium, creating an air of mobility, openness and transparency. This monograph studies the Light-Tech architecture of Richard Horden. Originally active in the marine and aerospace industries, Horden later worked with Grimshaw & Partner and Norman Foster. He has also been influenced by Buckminster Fuller and Jan Kaplicky. He now leads his own architecture firm based in London.

Hardcover. Condición: Very Good. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Very Good. 1st Edition. This copy from the collection of Sherban G. Cantacuzino (with his stamp on the front free endpaper) and has a signed letter from Horden loosely inserted. With his light Tech approach Richard Horden aimes at creating a style of architecture without weight, open and light. He draws his inspiration from yachts, aircrafts and cars whose forms are not burdened by tradition and history as the forms of architecture are, rather they are determined by the fast-moving development of technology. This also influences Richard Horden's designs which range from the design of furniture to residential buildings, office buildings and bridges. This monograph is the first comprehensive study to be devoted to the wide spectrum of Richard Horden's oeuvre. It shows how the opening of space as introduced by Frank Lloyd Wright, Le Corbusier and Mies van der Rohe were continued by Richard Horden to create a new architecture characterised by mobility, openness and transparency. Parallel English and German text. 180p : ill (chiefly coll) ; 27cm. First edition, first printing. White cloth boards, unclipped dust jacket, slight shelf wear with small bump to corner, tight and square binding. Photographs available on request.
