Flaxseed a herbal remedy for relieving constipation and focusing on the major problems faced by majority of people in the modern world and normal life style that will successfully bring the linseed into the market as a drug. The main objective of the study was to formulate the herbal tablets and standardizing the same for quality and purity of the formulation. In the present investigation flaxseed (Linum usitatissimum L.) extract was used for the preparation of tablets. From the available literatures, it’s evident that there is a need for development of the proper medication and dosage form for the treatment of constipation. The need of quality control and standardization for traditional system of medicines is due to the fact that the preparation of drug according to the ancient method has been reduced. Significant efforts have been made to modernize the traditional medicinal products into typical solid dosage forms. However, the conversion of medicinal extracts and powdered plant materials into tablets presents many challenges to formulators. Hence the study monoherbal formulation development for laxative activity was undertaken using flaxseed seed.
