Sinopsis
The volume analyses major strategic and policy issues. How to make science, technology, and innovation (STI) policies relevant for inclusive growth strategies in Africa so that socio-economic transformation strategies will take off. The first part discusses the issues of human skills development as part of STI policies, based on visions, strategic plans, and country cases (for Cameroon, Nigeria, and Mauritania). The second part looks at STI policies for economic transformation, focusing on country case studies (for Egypt and Tunisia). A third part presents book reviews and book notes.

Nazar Hassan is Senior Regional Adviser on Science and Technology at UNESCO Cairo Office in Cairo, Egypt. Samia Satti Mohamed Nour is Professor at the Department of Economics, University of Khartoum, Sudan. Achim Gutowski is Professor for Economics and Review Editor of the African Development Perspectives Yearbook, Research Group on African Development Perspectives, Bremen, Germany. Karl Wohlmuth is Professor Emeritus for Comparative Economic Systems at the University of Bremen, Bremen, Germany, and Scientific Coordinator of the African Development Perspectives Yearbook. Reuben A. Alabi is Professor at the Department of Agricultural Economics, Am-brose Alli University, Ekpoma, Edo State, Nigeria.
