Sinopsis

Exposure to climate variability and extremes, most particularly drought, cyclone and flash-flood poses substantial risks to people living in Dinajpur, Satkhira and Sunamganj districts respectively and 6 upazilas (Ghoraghat-Birganj, Assasuni-Syamnagar and Derai-Sunamganj sadar in orderly) of these districts were taken as the study areas. The work summarised the trends of 9 indicators. The statistical analysis aimed to observe the trend of seasonal variation and natural hazards through indicators with field survey questionnaire, focus group discussion and participatory action plan development method to analyze the distribution of hazard occurrence and frequency which resulting currently summer, monsoon and winter dominant season with high abnormalities than before. Trend of climate and water level analysed with SMRC data and community perception results devastating temperature and rainfall condition along with future trend of about annually 3.980C and 5.11% change respectively. Impact of cyclone, drought and flash-flood on people's livelihood and crop diversification were observed frequent condition with high deterioration.

Biografía del autor

Mr. Siddiquee (8th March, 1985) involves himself as a Research Officer at “Eminence” that deals with development issues. Earlier, he had completed B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Environmental Science from Jahangirnagar University, Bangladesh. Ms. Marium (24th March, 1990) attaches herself with social movements and studying BBA at BRAC University, Bangladesh.
