The increased number of multinational enterprises (MNEs) in recent years due to the fast developments in globalization and competition has given rise to an increased emphasis on international human resource management. One of the important issues for MNEs is the extent to which subsidiaries adapt their practices to local environment and behave as domestic firms (local isomorphism/local responsiveness) versus the extent to which their HRM practices are similar to those of their parent company (global integration). This book investigates the influences of local environment and headquarters on human resource development practices of MNE subsidiaries in Turkey. Organization-environment theories, namely, resource-dependence, contingency and institutional theories are used for examining those influences. The analysis should help shed some light on the studies regarding HRM in multinationals and should be especially helpful for professionals working in HRM field at multinational enterprises or academics who may be considering further research on MNEs and HRM practices.
