The progress in modern information technology depends primarily on the ability to precisely characterize the variety of materials in the wide range of anticipated parameters. Novel magnetic materials are the core of spintronics, in which a manipulation of electrons spins open a door to new concepts of practical applications. Although it is believed that the spintronics technology expedites modern technology and electronic applications, many questions and uncertainties regarding the origin of ferromagnetism remain. To achieve future goals, the Magneto-Optical Kerr Effect spectrometer is one of the powerful tools to study magnetic property in magnetic thin films and novel magnetic materials. In this monograph, we focus on MOKE through the principles supported by detailed derivations of equations for MOKE, and the development and testing of the MOKE spectrometer operating in polar and longitudinal geometries at room temperature. Students and researchers studying magnetic materials using the MOKE technique can capitalize on our detailed derivation of the equations and easy to understand calibration procedure.
