Sinopsis
A Program. Collection for the PC presents an outstanding selection of executable programs with introductory texts on chaos theory and its simulation. Students in physics, mathematics, and engineering will find a thorough introduction to fundamentals and applications in this field. Many numerical experiments and suggestions for further studies help the reader to become familiar with this fascinating topic. The CD-ROM : Ten executable programs and numerous examples are included on CD-ROM. Minimum system requirements : IBM or compatible PC using a 80286 processor; operating system MS-DOS 3.0 or higher; system memory 640 K; free space on hard disk plus 1.4 MB for additional examples; EGA or VGA graphics card; a mathematical coprocessor 8047,80287,80387, or 80487 is recommended but not essential; a mouse is not required but is supported by most of the programs. Also Windows 95/98 compatible. The programs cover: gravitational billiards: the wedge; the double pendulum; scattering off three disks; Fermi acceleration; the Duffing oscillator; a chaos generator; one-dimensional iterated maps; Mandelbrot and Julia sets; ordinary differential equations
