Acerca del autor
Dr. Ana Elvira Ojanguren López is a lecturer in Historical Linguistics and English at the University of La Rioja, Spain. She earned a Ph.D. with a thesis about Old English syntax and semantics, which received the Bruce Mitchell Award of the Spanish Society for Medieval English Language and Literature (SELIM).

The main thrust of the book is synchronic and its basis is a full-fledged functional theory of language, such as Role and Reference Grammar. On the descriptive side, the book takes the line that the strictly synchronic analysis of a linguistic stage can give insight into the historical development of the language.
