C-Shells is a collection of five short stories all woven together by the common threads of situational psychoses, dark literary imagery, mental anguish, substance abuse and insanity. Descend with the author into the shadowy mired depths of his vividly deranged imagination only if you dare! All first-person narrative vignettes, "Murder by the Bay" is a mushy love story gone horribly afoul but the character intimacy and beautiful San Francisco scenery lend it a classy touch of old-world romanticism. "Transient Vampire" takes a brief peek into one night in the life of an undead protagonist as he seeks out and takes his next meal. "Dead Drunk" is set in the suburbs of Denver, Colorado and puts forth the very bizarre situation of waking up hung over and lying next to a brutally murdered woman, with the narrator being the only apparent witness, the only obvious suspect, no memory at all of the killing, no idea of what to do next, and it only gets worse from there. "Silent Love" was originally written to be a Penthouse Forum letter for submission, but found its way into this collection instead because, erotic though it may be throughout, it is still just as aberrant and twisted as anything else included in the book. "Friday Night, Bloody Night" is also set in Colorado and closes out the volume by describing, through the storyteller's own eyes, a short-order cook who finally snaps, goes on a murderous rampage through his kitchen and restaurant, then manages to escape the scene and the suburbs into the secluded wilderness of the Rocky Mountains where he then recaps these adventures in essay format. Each of these stories (Shells) fall under the general umbrella of "psychological thriller" which is why, although they were all written separately and in some cases many years apart, they all found their way together into this one bound volume. None of these have ever been published anywhere else, so readers of this book will be getting a genuine original. C-Shells is not for everybody; each and every story presented has some level of adult situations, language, and themes, and none of it is normal, but if you like your literature a little beyond the mainstream and leaning a bit towards the deranged, then this book really was written just for you.
