The Old German Letters tells the story of Peter Strobel and Carolyn Marie Baus of Germany, who immigrated to America in the 1880s, and their descendants. This book traces the history of the family back to the 1700s in Limbach (BA) Bayern, and their long Atlantic voyage to America. It reviews their childhood and young adulthood in Bayern (Bavaria) and their lives in Williams County, Ohio. Peter was a braumeister (beer maker), a mill hand and lumber jack, and finally a farmer.

Acerca del autor

Frederic W. Strobel II, Historian & Freelance Writer, lives on Lake Diane in southern Michigan near the Amish settlements of Camden and Reading. A native of Montpelier, Ohio, the author is married and the father of two children. He also has four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Books written by Strobel include History of Gendron 1872-2007; First…A Dream: History of The ARO Corporation, 2011; My Amish Neighbors, 2016; The McDowell Family, 2017; and The Old German Letters, 3rd ed. 2017. The Old German Letters is the author's 4th book.
