The title story is the most famous and recounts the narration of a story told in Angels Camp, California about a gambler betting on his pet frog. The story is celebrated every year at the annual Angels Camp Jumping Frog Jubilee. His other stories poke fun at everything from insurance companies to chambermaids to high society.
