Leah Dessner writes a series about moms doing things that other regular people do. She hopes to make people laugh and smile with her stories.Currently employed with a Minnesota county, she enjoys her job and doing her best to help others. She enjoys writing because it is an essential creative outlet. She finds inspiration in everyday life and loves sharing these stories with others. Reading to her children has always been part of her daily routine, and she thought it would be fun to have books that she, too, enjoyed reading over and over again.Leah is married and has three children. She lives with her family in southern MN. She loves watching her children participate in activities and sports, spending time with her husband, watching new TV series, being with family, and puttering with projects at home.

For long as I can remember I had the desire to be an artist. One of the earliest memories of creating art for a project, I was 9 and drew a superhero for a comic book named "Super Cop". The illustration was of my new stepdad wearing a cape and police hat. He happened to be a Minneapolis police officer. This would be one of many projects sending me on my creative journey. The conundrum of the "starving artist" and making art drove my education towards advertising design and marketing, albeit, communication distribution. This has all accumulated to the greatest respect to how color and design affect storytelling. From being a production artist, laying out a home design publication from scratch, or working on an interactive design for Target, I've always worked collaboratively with writers. Content, design, and color working together. The past 30 years of being a creative professional have also allowed me to continue my painting aspirations on a parallel timeline as the artist, Spleee. I've been inspired by artists and I've inspired artists while owning an art gallery in NE Minneapolis for ten years.When I'm not being a visual creative you'll find me playing guitar in the band Big Rhombus (we've been doing it for thirty years), teaching my daughter Arty how to play the guitar, or working on the house.I live in Northeast Minneapolis with my wife Carisa, daughter Arty, son Arlo, dogs Burnzie and Oreo, and our cat Cupcake.

As an animal lover and kid at heart, it's been my life goal to illustrate children's books. I'm so thrilled and grateful to be realizing my dream.Inspired to use my talents in a more meaningful way, I said goodbye to Corporate America in 2016 and formed my own business, Lellow Lolly. My professional experiences within the print/publishing field equipped me with the skills to start my own business, support a freelance career, and reconnect with my natural inclination; illustration.I'm a graduate of the Rochester Institute of Technology with a BFA in Illustration and MFA in Painting, having learned under the direction of illustrator Bob Dorsey (American Greeting Card Company, Disney Press, Baseball Hall of Fame.) While attending RIT, I also had the privilege of meeting and participating in a critique with award-winning children's book author Jerry Pinkney; an experience that solidified my passion for illustrating children's books.I've long believed that life is a story, with each journey or phase one chapter of the greater whole. How exciting that in writing my own next chapter, I'm also helping others tell their stories, too.
