Retired ecologist, Randy Hoffman, spent his nearly 30-year career with the Wisconsin State Natural Areas Program. His statewide responsibilities provided the opportunity to experience the best nature Wisconsin has to offer. Hoffman's ecological work led to the establishment of more than 300 State Natural Areas. He is the past President of the Wisconsin Society for Ornithology, author of Wisconsin's Natural Communities, When Things Happen, and was the major contributor to Wisconsin's Important Bird Areas. He enjoys nature exploration, birding, writing, and public service. He lives with his wife, JoAnn, in Waunakee, WI.
Cody and Laura Stingley live in DeForest, WI, with their two children. Both are proud graduates of the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, where they met and bonded over their shared love of the natural world. When responsibilities pry them away from Wisconsin's magnificent natural areas, Laura works in Internal Operations at an accounting firm and Cody teaches Math and Computer Science at a public high school.
