The UEI-PIA Approach to Project Management IntroducedThe UEI-PIA Approach, developed by the author and based on the Project Management Institute’s project management methodology, and consists of the following six steps:Understand (Step A) – You will learn to better understand yourself, your goals, and the opportunities in your life. You will understand the benefits of bringing project management methodology into your professional, business, and personal life.Evaluate (Step 1) – You will learn to evaluate the opportunities and their priorities in your life. You will also learn how to determine which opportunities should be turned into projects.Initiate (Step 2) – You will learn to get projects started by focusing on their charters and stakeholders.Plan (Step 3) – You will learn to plan projects systematically. Step-by-step. The methodology discussed, once practiced by you again and again in the real world, should allow you to:•Plan small projects, informally, with pen and paper, or in your head•Plan the work of larger projects using a set of documented plans which can then be provided to the project team•Plan the management of work using formal Project Management Plan documentation, which can help you professionally manage the project teamImplement (Step 4) – You will learn to delegate work, control work, and transition as work nears completion (we will not discuss how to do the actual work… that you will need to learn elsewhere, of course!).Adapt (Step B) – You will learn to become more efficient and agile in planning and implementing projects. You will also learn how to handle multiple projects.
