It is amazing that Katherine became a teacher and loved it since she was not a fan of elementary school, including lunch and recess. She can't say she enjoyed high school or college all that much either (though she always earned good grades). Despite her attitude toward school, she discovered that she loved being an educator. Life is full of irony.

Katherine taught in both the public and private sectors over many years. She loved working with students, connecting with each as the unique individuals they were and helping them grow in confidence and academics. While teaching, she also learned how to maneuver through and around obstacles, i.e. people and finances, in order to successfully teach her students.

Katherine used those skills and experiences to become a director of a learning center in North Carolina and two learning centers in Hawai’i. (Yes, that’s really how to spell it!) In this capacity, she learned how to work with employees, accountants, lawyers, budgets, spreadsheets, school administrators, teachers, and more to develop successful learning centers where not only the bottom line was important to the owners, the advancement and successes of the students were paramount.

Ready to share her experience gained as a teacher, director, and mother, Katherine has become an author and an educational speaker. Whether in print or with the spoken word, Katherine guides her audiences to think for themselves and live the most successful and enriched lives they were meant to live. She does this by skillfully grabbing her audience’s attention with her personal stories. Her stories may make you laugh or make you cry but all of them will make you think!

Katherine lived in Hawai’i for almost ten years with her husband. They wanted to be closer to their families so they moved back to North Carolina. They now live in a house that Katherine and her father designed, nestled away in the country.
