Next time you need quick answers about the Next Generation Science Standards, turn to The NSTA Quick-Reference Guides to the NGSS. The guides are available in three grade-specific versions - one each for elementary, middle, and high school - plus a version for K–12. Each book provides the appropriate performance expectations; disciplinary core ideas; practices; crosscutting concepts; connections to engineering, technology, and applications of science; and connections to nature of science. The guides are designed to be used with the NGSS.
The books’ emphasis is on easy. In addition to helping you find the parts of the standards most relevant to you, youcan readily acquaint yourself with their formats and find out what each of the different parts means. The Quick-Reference Guides are indispensable companions to the NGSS for science teachers at all levels, but they’re equally essential to administrators, curriculum developers, and teacher educators who are incorporating the NGSS and want to help others do so as well.

Ted Willard is a Senior Subject Matter Expert in Science for Discovery Education where he develops three-dimensional, phenomenon-based science curricula. Before joining Discovery Education, Ted spent eight years as the in-house standards expert for the National Science Teaching Association (NSTA). In this role, he supported implementation of the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), other standards based on A Framework for K– 12 Science Education, and three-dimensional learning. He is the author of The NSTA Atlas of the Three Dimensions (NSTA Press, 2020) and editor of The NSTA Quick-Reference Guide to the NGSS (NSTA Press, 2014). Before joining NSTA, Ted spent twelve years at Project 2061 for the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), where he was responsible for the development of the Atlas of Science Literacy, Volume 2 (AAAS, 2007).

Paperback. Condición: Good. Since the release of the first draft of the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), NSTA has been at the forefront in promoting the standards and helping science educators become familiar with and learn to navigate this exciting but complex document. Later, when the final version was released and states began adopting the standards, NSTA started to develop resources that would assist educators with their implementation. Along the way, NSTA learned that even the simplest of resources, like a one-page cheat sheet, can be extremely useful. Many of those tools are collected here, including - a two-page cheat sheet that describes the practices, core ideas, and crosscutting concepts that make up the three dimensions described in A Framework for K-12 Science Education; - an Inside the Box graphic that spells out all of the individual sections of text that appear on a page of the NGSS; - a Venn diagram comparing the practices in NGSS, Common Core State Standards, Mathematics, and Common Core State Standards, English Language Arts; and - matrices showing how the NGSS are organized by topic and disciplinary core idea. This guide also provides the appropriate performance expectations; disciplinary core ideas; practices; crosscutting concepts; connections to engineering, technology, and applications of science; and connections to nature of science. It is designed to be used with the NGSS. The NSTA Quick-Reference Guides to the NGSS are also available in grade-specific versions--one each for middle and high school--plus a comprehensive K-12 edition. The four Quick-Reference Guides are indispensable to science teachers at all levels, as well as to administrators, curriculum developers, and teacher educators. Nº de ref. del artículo: 00098999982
