Linda Aronson is a playwright, scriptwriter, comic novelist for young adults, and screenwriting theorist. She is the author of the texts Screenwriting Updated and Television Writing; the young-adult novels Kelp: A Comedy About Love, Seaweed and Rupert Murdoch and Plain Rude: A Comedy about Love, Lies and an Emu Called Bruce Willis; and the stage plays Dinkum Assorted and Reginka's Lesson.
A brilliant book. Linda Aronson is one of the great and important voices on screenwriting. Linda Seger, author of Making a Good Script Great A very wonderful book. I love the strategies for plumbing the unconscious story mind. There's no other book that gives such an in-depth analysis of the 'bone structure' for all these various kinds of narratives. Robin Swicord, screenwriter, The Jane Austen Book Club, Memoirs of a Geisha, Little Women It's a huge achievement, an incredibly comprehensive analysis of what the screenwriter does, of what can go right and what can go wrong and how to fix it when it does. I highly recommend it. Andrew Bovell, screenwriter, Edge of Darkness, Blessed, Lantana As a screenwriting professor at NYU I tend to the view that most screenwriting books offer something of value and each is essentially as good as the person who reads it. In the case of Linda Aronson's work I make an exception. The book provides the services of a personal script editor, dramaturg or even co-writer. Don't leave home without it. from the Foreword by Paul Thompson
