Sinopsis

"A back-street Tristan and Isolde."—Daily Mail, 1962

"A triumph."—Times Literary Supplement, 1962

Brownie and Lola are young and in love. But the odds—not to mention their mothers, the cops, welfare officers and the stifling conventions of 1950s Brisbane—are against them. When they are forced to face adult responsibilities, will they rise to the challenge, or fall apart? Criena Rohan's classic novel of rock and roll, youthful rebellion and big dreams, is a love story for the ages. The 1989 film adaptation of this book was a box-office success and Kylie Minogue's first film.
