Historic reconstructions have become a decisive tool in the history of science and technology over the last few decades. This book is based on a workshop held at national Museums Scotland and brings together key studies of 15 recent reconstruction projects, covering areas as diverse as physics, computing, horology, communication, transport and military. The reconstructions include Leonardo's Flight, the Babbage Calculating Machine, the Sea Stallion of Glenalough Viking Ship, Roman Dyeing and Vermeer's Camera.
