Sinopsis

As we look forward to leaving the twentieth century, the pace of architectural change in London has accelerated - a phenomenon reflected in this fourth edition of a book described by The Sunday Times as a 'publishing hit'. Revised and re-photographed throughout, with more than 30 new entries, this book provides a snapshot of London now, with a new wave of lottery-funded projects and the major infrastructure development of the Jubilee Line Extension designed by many of the UK's most exciting architects. And the Millennium Dome provides a controversial full stop to the century. Other projects featured for the first time in this guide range from the Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Neasden to Future Systems' floating bridge in Docklands, and from the reconstructed Globe Theatre in Southwark to No.1 Poultry, London's post-modern flagship, the posthumously completed work of James Stirling.
