The important collection of Italian Renaissance drawings in Sir John Soane's Museum, London has for many years remained one of the hidden treasures of the Museum. Fully illustrated throughout, the subjects discussed in Lynda Fairbairn's two-volume catalogue of the collection include ornamental designs from the circle of Giorgio Vasari, Renaissance machinery, and the ancient brick tombs of the Roman Campagna as drawn by Giovanni Battista Montano.
