Sinopsis

This text for GNVQ (Advanced) students, is an introduction to microprocessor hardware and software. The author prepares students for careers as technician engineers, or for moving into higher studies. From simple ideas, the student is led through fundamental concepts to an understanding of the structure and operation of a complete microprocessor based system. The processors covered represent those used for both large and small control applications as well as the desk-top PC. The mode of instruction has been deliberately presented to allow skills and knowledge acquired with one processor to be readily applied to other systems. Structured programming techniques, new to most micro-electronics syllabi, are introduced and used in subsequent programming examples.
