Barry Topping is Professor of Computational Mechanics at Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, Scotland. He is also editor of the International Journal of Computers & Structures and editor of Advances in Engineering Software. Carlos A. Mota Soares is Professor at the Instituto Superior Tecnico, Technical University of Lisbon, Portugal.
