Since the 1970s, microfinance pioneer David Bussau AM (born 1940) has been developing, refining, and implementing innovative solutions to the problem of entrenched world poverty. He is the founder of Opportunity International Australia and co-founder of the Opportunity International Network, both organisations dedicated to challenging the conventional wealth redistribution model of development, and addressing poverty through responsible wealth creation. Today, Opportunity International Australia serves over a million people in India, Indonesia, and the Philippines. David currently provides consultancy to government, corporations, and NGOs. For his services to international development, David has been honoured with an Order of Australia and in 2008 was named Senior Australian of the Year. He is married to Carol and has two daughters, Natasha and Rachel.
