The popularity of the sculptures of Auguste Rodin (1840-1917) is due in no small part to the evangelical efforts of the pre-eminent twentieth-century American collector B. Gerald Cantor. Featuring some of the artist's greatest masterpieces, together with many of his drawings, prints, photographs and memorabilia, this book chronicles how the Cantor collection of around 750 works by Rodin grew. Beautifully illustrated throughout, it reveals how one man's obsession provided the world with a hugely significant bequest of the work of one of the greatest sculptors of all time. Acerca del autor
Antoinette le Normand-Romain is Director of the Institut National d'Histoire de l'Art. She was formerly Chief Curator of Sculpture at the Musee Rodin, Paris. Mary Levkoff is Curator of European Sculpture and Classical Antiquities at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Daniel Rosenfeld is an art historian and former Director of the Colby College Museum of Art, Waterville, Maine. Aida Audeh is Assistant Professor of Art History at Hamline University, St Paul, Minnesota.
