It begins with "The Basics" - buying the hardware, getting a provider, costs, troubleshooting, and information sources - and then takes the reader "surfing" in "The Guide", with site-by-site coverage of places to visit on the World Wide Web. Each site is reviewed critically to help the Net surfer make a choice. At the back of the book, "The Contexts" writes up the Internet's strange history and includes articles on "netiquette", security and censorship.
