Len Manwaring was born on the Isle of Thanet where his novel is set. Educated in Ramsgate, he became a local government officer in Margate. He served in the RAF in World War Two and later worked in clinical research. Now retired he lives in Hastings in East Sussex. He has published two previous novels, The Nelson Touch (2001) and Alone: A Wartime Story of Survival (1998) both published by Marionette Books.
