No Time to Lose is an unusual romance with a powerful and poignant ending. Set in the 1950s in London, Manchester, Belgium and Paris, it is the story of Ginette, a devout young Catholic girl, and David, a young writer and doubting Protestant. In following the course of their doomed love, David Stringer, himself a playwright, includes telling backstage scenes, visits to Belgium and an English public school, and wonderful portraits of landladies, antagonistic relatives and, most notably, a delightful French urchin. This haunting tale will totally transport the reader to those days of half a century ago when life was different but just as precious.
