James Johnston is currently a General Adviser for South Gloucestershire. A former Head of History and Deputy Headteacher, he taught for fifteen years in comprehensive schools in Bristol before becoming TVEI co-ordinator for North Bristol. In that role he led professional development programmes for teaching staff and managers from the area's schools and colleges. He became an adviser for the County of Avon in 1995 and continued to be prominent in professional development and school improvement initiatives. A qualified practitioner in the discipline of Neuro-Linguistic Programming since 1996, James has trained extensively in the field of personal effectiveness.
