Expanding upon the long-standing relationship between man and machine, this issue explores the interaction between art and modern technologies, demonstrating how artists have reacted to the newest developments. With contributions from leading figures and institutions involved in the revolution in technological art, including Art Lab, Tokyo and ZKM, Karlsruhe, this issue shows that the 1990s is an era when science, engineering and art have come closer together than at any time since Leonardo da Vinci.
