A master of expansive spatial effects and evocative colour, he pioneered painting that was both uncompromisingly abstract and powerfully emotive. This publication will be a long overdue re-examination of his life and art. Featuring more than one hundred of his paintings, drawings, prints and sculptures, each reproduced in full colour. Accompanies the exhibition held at Tate Modern, Autumn/Winter 2002/3.
