Sinopsis

This theoretically oriented computer science book represents the first monograph that systematically and compactly summarizes the current knowledge about scattered context grammars, which play a vital role in today's formal language theory. It covers all essential variants of these grammars. The main attention is paid to the grammatical generative power, fundamental properties, simplification, reduction, parsing, and applications, most of which are related to linguistics. This book is relevant to advanced students and specialists in theoretical computer science, mathematics, and linguistics.
