This period can be viewed as the end of the second Never-Ending Tour period. Towards the end of 1996 Bob Dylan started to change his backing band. Many of the covers during the Never-Ending Tour are taken from Jerry Garcia?s repertoire both with The Grateful Dead and with his own band. His official statement issued after the death of Jerry Garcia is really moving and Dylan soon started to include more songs from the Dead songbook in his sets.
