Stationary Steam Engine Makers Volume 1 covers engine makers from A - J. "The English Heritage National Monuments Record" at Swindon holds, in the "Watkin's Collection", is a catalogue of photographs relating to Stationary Steam Engine Builders. This two volume book includes many of Watkin's photographs of engines most previously unpublished the material will be of substantial interest to steam enthusiasts and will be a primary source of new information for many local historians. There are also many unpublished photographs of engines being built, engravings from engineering newspapers going back to the 1860s etc. The catalogue details information on the companies as well as their products and include many small businesses in addition to the well-known makers.
