Everyone says that your time in higher education will be the best years of your life. But in reality, it can be a tough transition - and with the isolation and stress that comes from being thrust into a new environment, it might feel impossible to keep low moods and negative feelings under control.
In this supportive and easy-to-read guide, award-winning student mental health expert Dr Dominique Thompson helps you understand the potential sources of depression, and the ways in which it may be affecting you.
She includes students' personal accounts of their depression and how they learned to manage it – a strong reminder that you are not alone in the way you feel. With practical tips and exercises, you too can build a toolkit that will lift you out of a dark place and improve your mental health.
This book will help you gain real power over your depression so that you can enjoy the full student experience – on your terms.
